Who teaches the classes Kristina doesn’t teach?
We have an outstanding artistic staff of skilled professional instructors. All have professional dance careers, academic degrees and extensive teaching experience. Each staff member is dedicated to providing a creative, inspiring and fun learning environment while upholding the highest standards of classical ballet excellence.
I want my dancer to be in an excellent ballet training environment, but I want it to be emotionally safe too. What is your philosophy about working with children?
Kristina’s philosophy is that although dancers are at KPBA for the purpose of studying ballet, the goal of training at KPBA is to develop the dancer as a whole person because the dancer’s mind and body are equally important in life and in ballet training. Therefore, she utilizes contemporary sports psychology techniques used by coaches who train Olympic athletes so that dancers hone attributes such as determination, persistence and positive self expectation in the classroom. Dancers develop confidence from setting and achieving their individual goals at KPBA, and the positive habits will benefit them in all of their endeavors.
Can I enroll my dancer anytime during the year?
Ye, if there is room in the class you can enroll anytime. Tuition will be prorated.
Can I watch my dancer’s ballet class?
Yes. Our ballet studio has observation windows and parents are welcome to watch all classes.
How big are the classes?
Class size is limited. There are always two instructors in lower level classes, ensuring a 6-1 or 7-1 student-teacher ratio.
I want my dancer to train in a physically safe environment. What security measures do you take?
Buzzer entry system, alarm, second adult on premises, background checks…
Is your studio a clean place?
Yes. The studio is cleaned daily, sometimes more than once!
Do I get a discount if I have more than one dancer enrolled at KPBA?
Yes. We offer a five percent discount on the second/lower tuition.
My daughter/son wants to be a professional ballet dancer. Can you help get her/him there?
Yes. Kristina danced for three professional ballet companies both in the USA and Europe and she understands the path to a professional ballet career. Please schedule an appointment with Kristina to talk about your dancer’s goals and read more about our training program on our website under Delaware Valley Ballet Theater or Classes and Policies.
My dancer just wants to take ballet for fun, but has no professional aspirations. Is KPBA the right environment for her/him?
Yes. Most dancers who study ballet will decide to pursue other careers. However, it is gratifying to know that they have mastered an art form that they will likely carry a love for throughout life. Their appreciation and understanding of all fine arts will be enhanced.
How does class placement work?
Dancers are placed based on age and previous experience. New students entering the school will take a placement class, after which Kristina will recommend the appropriate level for your dancer. Please read the Class Decription section of our website for class level descriptions.
When can I talk to Kristina about my dancer’s progress?
You can schedule a meeting to talk to Kristina anytime.
When will my dancer move up a level?
Our instructors closely monitor and discuss the students’ progress, and your dancer could be moved up anytime during the school year. It is common for dancers to spend a few years in each level, but we will move your dancer up anytime she/he is ready!
